EN4137 should specify how to calculate minimum bolt tensile load requirements.
In that case, diameter D8 shall be taken into account (relieve shank / stepped shank).
Example:
For EN4137-080, D8 = 6,6 mm. Dimensional tolerance is h12.
So, average D8 = 6,6 – (0,15/2) = 6,525 mm
Cross section area = piX(6,525/2)².
Minimum tensile load = piX(6,525/2)²x1100 = 36,782 kN.
LISI consider this minimum tensile load value and I agree with this.
EN4137 should delete double shear test requirement since this is a stepped shank bolt.
These comments should be shared with ASD-STAN in order to update EN4137 standard in that way.
These comments are not blocking.
Approved from my side.
Best regards
