According to PFC, MPI has been carried out after cadmium plating.
Could you please show us which MPI standard has been applied?
In some cases, cadmium plating may hide some cracks, laps, seams.
Do you have any information about stress relief heat treatment prior to cadmium plating?
Indeed, we have thread rolling just before cadmium plating, so, we have a cold work effect.
Many thanks in advance,
Best regards
Julien
Hello Julien,
The MPI is performed after protection because cadmium plating could bring contamination. For these low thicknesses of cadmium plating, defects before cadmium plating can still be detected. (example on ISO9934-1 §7)
Concerning the stress relief operation, a relaxation of 191°C from 4h to 10h is performed. This operation is part of the steps of the cadmium plating process.
Hello Nicolas, Keith,
Sorry for answering a bit late.
I am happy with all answers.
Just to make sure I well understood: MPI process, which includes chemical cleaning, magnetic particles, may contaminate nuts and therefore, cadmium plating may be affected.
Is that correct?
Many thanks
Best regards
Julien
Electrolytic cadmium plating can weaken the part, which is why the MPI is carried out after cadmium plating, which allows this weakening to be detected.
Thank you.

Many thanks Nicolas, it is clear for me.
Approved from my side.
Have a nice day
Best regards
