Salt spray test: as per EN2583, salt spray test shall be carried out on 100% of mfg batch for Acceptance.
In test report, 5 parts has been salt spray tested during 5 hours.
From my point of view, I am not really sure that 100% of a mfg batch shall undergo a salt spray test.
Salt spray test may be considered as a destructive test even if 2h duration is short for this kind of test and grade (Inconel 718 is really high corrosion resistant).
5 samples for this test is in line with EN2583, table 8, column B (destructive test).
In addition, as per EN2583, table 2, salt spray test is classified in destructive tests category.
What is LISI’s and Keith’s points of view?
Process Flow Chart: why is it written P2 revision for EN2583? Actual revision is EN2583:2019.
Many thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Julien
Julien, thank you for your review and your comments. At ASD CERT, we have seen the issue with 100% batch testing of passivation with salt spray and we know this is incorrect as consider it a destructive test so we should ask ASD STAN to correct EN2583. In the meantime, we can accept the acceptance test carried out by Lisi on the 5 parts. The flow chart should reference the 2019 version of EN2583 so I will ask Lisi to update the flowchart and I will seal it again.
Many thanks Keith for reminding me that this topic is ongoing at ASD-CERT.
All is clear for me now (including PFC update in progress).
Thus, approved from my side.
Best regards,
Julien
