Conditions to Qualify EN3645 electrical connectors under EN3645-001 technical specification :
• The QTR states « Measured performances are guaranteed by the Laboratory only for the specimen sampling submitted to the tests. Any generalization of the results cannot be done under Laboratory authority nor engaging its responsibility ». The manufacturer has to state that there is no impact in the conformity of on any EN3645 subsequent manufactured connectors against their definition.
• The equivalence of each EIA test procedure for MIL-DTL-38999 connectors has to be demonstrated against each EN2591 test procedure for EN3645 connectors. A detailed table of equivalence has to be furnished to ASD-CERT for each test.
• An accelerometer broke down during a vibration test. Could you make a statement that this test would have been successful for EN3645 connectors without this issue?
• A statement of equivalence between MIL-DTL-38999 technical specification and prEN3645-001 edition 2015 has to be written. Are those MIL-DTL-38999 connectors also in compliance to prEN3645-001 edition 2018 for future batches to be manufactured?
• The modified manufacturing route has not been found in the report. Please provide ASD-CERT with the manufacturing route applicable to EN3645 connectors.
• The ACP-008 Form 1 should have been fulfilled.
Hello Phillippe,
tanks for the provided comments. Here is my reply:
– The sentence in the QTR: « Measured performances are guaranteed by the Laboratory only for the specimen sampling submitted to the tests. Any generalization of the results cannot be done under Laboratory authority nor engaging its responsibility » is a statement Esterline uses in all QTR as the laboratory is only aware about products under test and cannot give a statement about other products produced at a later stage. The frozen manufacturing flow Chart is to guarantee the equal Performance and Quality of products . Therefore an additional Statement about the Quality of subsequent manufactured connectors is not necessary.
– The requested table of equivamence between EIA test and EN2591 test would be an additional requirement. Techncial specification EN3645-001 clearly states in chapter 8.3.2 that the OCM can use the results of MIL-DTL-38999 “Retention of Qualifikation” data as justification. This stement was especially made in Standard EN3155-001 after deep Investigation between EN and EIA test methods.
– As requested, herewith I can state that the broken accelerator as described, would not have an influence during succesful qualification of EN3645 connectors.
– A statement of equivalence between MIL-DTL-38999 and EN3645-001is already given inside Standard EN3645-001 where we have dedicted chapter for MIL-DTL-38999 QPL manufacturer regarding Initial qualifcation (accepetance of MIL QTR plus some additional EN2591 test) and Retention of qualification (simple acceptance of MIL-DTL-38999 Retention of qualification data). No furter stament is necessary.
– The manufacturing route was not modified as only the preparation bath before plating the Composite Shells and therefore only the “plating tracker Sheets” must be updated. This sheet is not part of the frozen manufacturing route. Recommendation is given in ACP005 form2 to add the updated “plating tracker Sheets” to frozen manfacturing route during rebewal of qualification in 2020.
– ACP008 form 1 is requested to be provided by the manufacturere
