  1. Cadmium plating:
No information about Stress relief heat treatment before cadmium plating is mentioned (but we do have baking parameters after cadmium plating in test reports and counter test report). Could you please add this?

Scope of qualification: both bolt references with (D code) and without (hyphen) are listed in scope of qualification documents. However, only bolt without split pin holes are subjected to QTR. Could you please clarify?
Same question for recess codes (A and R).
    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

    1. Yes, Stress relief heat treatment before cadmium plating was carried out and I added it on the QTR reports.

The drilled area is not stressed during the mechanical tests required by the specification ISO7689. Therefore we consider that the D code can be covered by the tests carried out on the non-drilled parts (- code).

RegardingR code, the presence of the ribbes facilitates the recess removal torque test, thus the A code (worse grip) can cover R code.

  2. Thankyou for the updates to the QTRs for the stress relief/de embrittlement applied.
I accept the reasoning for analogy for the other drilled variant. Can you clarify the comment on the R code? The report states the mentioned test is not applicable?
I have also seen on the manufacturing route that forging and thread rolling are not classed as a key operation. In my opinion they are key operations in bolt/screw manufacture, can you please update the route or explain why they are not key?

    1. – For the R code: indeed the test is not applicable. Either code A and code R can be listed in scope of qualification.
      – For us, the key operations are NADCAP special processes. Consequently forging and thread rolling are not identified as key operations.

  3. Key Operations are not limited to NADCAP special processes. I understand per the guidance Key Operations are processes that would have significant influence on product fit, service life, performance or producability. As such I believe both thread rolling and forging fit this description.
