EN3614-050-036 (automatic forging):
FPI: 2 bolts were rejected due to the presence of laps underhead. Did you carry out microscopic examinations on them to determine the root cause? Hopefully, due to mfg batch size, the entire batch has been FP inspected. However, for a bigger batch quantity, sample quantity would be 200 for instance.
The idea is to make sure that, for future batches, forging operations (I assume that this type of defect comes from head forging) will not generate this kind of defect.

Hello Julien,
Yes, if FPI find any discontinuous on part they bring the all suspecting parts in the laboratory and they cut the part and carry out microscopic examinations.

Hi Buse and thank you for your response. Can you also please confirm, as requested by Julien, that the entire batch was FP inspected? Was a root cause determined for the underhead laps?

All parts have been 100% FPI. You can see that FPI has been done to the entire lot on the FPI process sheet. It is caused by the underhead lap, forging or raw material.
