  1. EN3687-050:
Hardness test: this test has been carried out as per ISO6507-1. This standard is related to Vickers method.
However, results are in Rockwell units.
Which hardness method has been used? (Vickers or Rockwell)? If Vickers method is confirmed, how these values have been converted into Rockwell units?
Fluorescent penetrant inspection: in FPI CoC, EN3685 edition 09/2008 is mentioned instead of EN3685:2019.
Which edition shall be considered? Is there any major difference between these two editions concerning FPI?

    EN3687-060:
Tensile test: all results are complaint. However, just something to point out: one bolt broke at 23942 N, thus only 12 N above the minimum limit.

      question :
Hardness test: this test has been carried out as per ISO6507-1. This standard is related to Vickers method. However, results are in Rockwell units. Which hardness method has been used? (Vickers or Rockwell)? If Vickers method is confirmed, how these values have been converted into Rockwell units?

      answer:
Decomatic has only a vickers hardness equipment
So , the measures are made in Vickers. They use the ISO 18265 to convert the value in Rockwell. The internal procedure D-56317 referred to the ISO in order to guide the operator for the conversion. During the audit I have checked this point ( measurement procedure , measurement itself and conversion )

      question :

Which edition shall be considered? Is there any major difference between these two editions concerning FPI?

      Answer :
Decomatic has checked with Controrem. Controrem doesn’t know that there is a new revision for the EN3689 standard. So they have applied the revision 2008.
Nevertheless , the difference between revison 2008 and 2019 is only on § 5.5.7 about ISO 3452 which is changed to ISO 3452-1 . CONTROMEN certifies that they have applied the inspection ISO 3452-1 as request by the EN 3685

      answer :
During the audit a contercheck has been made on this reference ( but also on other references … )
      The values were 23 982 and 24111 N
